We are excited to announce the launch of new offline learning resources on the LedeYoruba website! These resources are designed to enhance your Yoruba language learning experience, providing you with a variety of tools to study at your own pace, even without an internet connection. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s now available:
Flashcards: Enhance your vocabulary with themed flashcards like "What I did today," "Places 1," and "Verbs 2." Each card comes with audio to help with pronunciation.
Videos: Engage with video lessons that bring the Yoruba language to life through visual and auditory learning.

In this story session, meet the lazy man who’s always looking for the easy way out! This week, he pretends to be stranded to avoid doing any real work and ends up teaching us some useful Yoruba phrases. In our movie, we’ll follow a wife’s heartfelt efforts to make amends with her husband for the wrongs she has done.
Learn with Stories and Issues - A Lazy Man’s Vocabulary Lesson:
Meet the lazy man who’s always looking for the easy way out! This week, he pretends to be stranded to avoid doing any real work and ends up teaching us some useful Yoruba phrases. Through his antics, you’ll learn words and expressions for:
Asking for help ("Ẹ jọ̀wọ́, ẹ ran mí lọ́wọ́" - Please, help me)
Expressing need ("Mo fẹ́..." - I need...)
Basic greetings and introductions ("Báwo ni?" - How are you?; "Orúkọ mi ni..." - My name is...)

Learn with Movies - A Wife's Journey to Reconciliation:
In this week’s movie session, we’ll follow a wife’s heartfelt efforts to make amends with her husband for the wrongs she has done. As she tries to win back his love and trust, you’ll learn simple but meaningful Yoruba phrases that express:
Apologies ("Ẹ má bínú, ìdí náà ni..." - Please, don't be angry, it's because...)
Affection and reconciliation ("Mo nífẹ̀ẹ́ rẹ" - I love you; "Ẹ jọ̀wọ́, gbà mí nínú" - Please, forgive me)
Gratitude and appreciation ("O ṣeun fún gbogbo ohun tí o ṣe" - Thank you for all you’ve done)
These phrases will help you express a range of emotions and navigate personal relationships in Yoruba.
Special Event Announcement: Yoruba Cooking Class in Lagos!
We’re thrilled to announce an upcoming Yoruba Cooking Class in Lagos, Nigeria! This "Meet and Chat" event, presented by Lede Yoruba, will be held on Saturday, 28th December 2024, at 11 AM in Lekki, Lagos. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn how to prepare traditional Yoruba dishes like:
Mọ́inmọ́in with Ògì
Gbegiri, Ewédú, and Bùkà Stew with Àmàlà
Ẹ̀fọ́ Rírò with Boiled Yam
Join us for a hands-on culinary experience that will not only teach you how to cook these delicious dishes but also allow you to connect with fellow learners and Yoruba culture enthusiasts.
