Hey there, Yoruba language enthusiasts!
Hope your week has been great! First things first, we owe you an apology. Due to some unforeseen security-related limitations on Amazon Prime, we couldn't watch clips from "Gangs of Lagos" together this week for the Learn with Movies sessions. I don’t know why Jeff did a sister dirty like that in public, but màá fiílẹ̀ sọ́wọ́ Ọlọ́run - I’ll leave him in the hands of God [to judge].
But hey, we're not going to let a little hiccup stop us from enjoying the magic of Yoruba movies! So, for next week's sessions, we're relying on the trusty ol' YouTube. We'll be reviewing a hilarious clip from the series called "Okoto." Get ready to laugh your socks off as we follow the relatable and funny story of a YouTuber, Ese, trying to live a fake life. In the clip, she tries to use her influence to try on different cloths at a boutique for free to wow her fans. Let's see how this adventure unfolds! In our Stories & Issues sessions, we always dive deep into various aspects of Yoruba culture. This time, we're going to explore the attitudes and physical characteristics of people. From funny quirks to common traits, we'll discuss what you’ll say when describing yourself or other people. Get ready to learn, laugh, and maybe even start teasing each other’s quirks in Yoruba!
As usual, we will have everyone's favorite "Meet and Chat" sessions that have no agenda and allows you organically express your thoughts to each other.
