We are excited to announce the launch of new offline learning resources on the LedeYoruba website! These resources are designed to enhance your Yoruba language learning experience, providing you with a variety of tools to study at your own pace, even without an internet connection. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s now available:
Flashcards: Enhance your vocabulary with themed flashcards like "What I did today," "Places 1," and "Verbs 2." Each card comes with audio to help with pronunciation.
Videos: Engage with video lessons that bring the Yoruba language to life through visual and auditory learning.

Learn with Stories and Issues - Things You Should Know About the Ojude Oba Festival:
This week’s story session will transport you to the vibrant celebration of the Ojude Oba Festival—a grand cultural event of the Ijebu people in Ogun State, Nigeria. You'll learn:
The history and significance of the festival, which started as a gathering to pay homage to the Awujale (the king of Ijebu) and has grown into a celebration of culture, fashion, and community.
Key activities that define the festival, such as the colorful parades, equestrian displays by different age-grade groups (regberegbe), and musical performances.
Vocabulary and phrases related to festivals and celebrations in Yoruba, like "àjọyọ̀" (celebration), "oríire" (good fortune), and "ìbàdí" (parade).
By the end of this session, you'll be equipped to discuss the Ojude Oba festival and appreciate its cultural importance, while also expanding your Yoruba vocabulary around traditional events.

We’re thrilled to announce an upcoming Yoruba Cooking Class in Lagos, Nigeria! This "Meet and Chat" event, presented by Lede Yoruba, will be held on Saturday, 28th December 2024, at 11 AM in Lekki, Lagos. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn how to prepare traditional Yoruba dishes like:
Mọ́inmọ́in with Ògì
Gbegiri, Ewédú, and Bùkà Stew with Àmàlà
Ẹ̀fọ́ Rírò with Boiled Yam
Join us for a hands-on culinary experience that will not only teach you how to cook these delicious dishes but also allow you to connect with fellow learners and Yoruba culture enthusiasts.
